La Perla, a family run restaurant, kindly held a charity day for the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation (PPBF).
Staff charitably worked for free, and the restaurant opened earlier than normal to host a coffee and cake morning as well as lunch and dinner. All takings from the day were generously donated to the charity and a raffle was also held on the evening with local companies donating everything from food hampers to gift vouchers.
“We do this every year for a different charity – we and our customers always really look forward to it. We’re delighted to have raised almost £6,000 to help local families. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our wonderful customers, family, friends, and everyone else involved. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.” – Dinarte Fernandes, La Perla Restaurant.
Jo Priaulx, Founder of the PPBF says; “We’re so grateful that Dinarte and Zulmira organised this warm and welcoming fundraising event for the PPBF. It was a long day for the team, and they worked so hard. They even created special menus and made their own charity t-shirts. They raised an incredible amount of funds for us, the equivalent of supporting 3 months’ worth of cosy nights for families staying in our flats. We can’t thank them enough.”
The PPBF is safeguarding the future of its vital compassionate housing next to Southampton Hospital with its Buy-A-Night campaign. Its three, fully equipped and lovingly decorated two-bedroom flats provide a safe haven for Guernsey parents. They keep families together, just minutes away from their poorly child or baby receiving off-island hospital care.
Businesses can support the PPBF’s Buy-A-Night campaign by buying a week or months’ worth of nights for the PPBF flats; Aggies Burrow, Isaac’s Pad or Frankie’s Den. The donation could be raised through fundraising events similarly to La Perla, or by providing sponsorship, in return for displaying a company’s logo on the PPBF’s online corporate calendar.
