Life for Guernseyman Tom McGahy, and his family, changed forever after his daughter Romy was diagnosed with an 18cm tumour just before her 5th birthday. Tom and his family are currently staying in Isaac’s Pad while Romy’s lifesaving treatment at Southampton Hospital continues, and her journey is being shared through this special blog.
Inspired by the PPBF’s ‘home from home’ which has allowed the McGahy family to stay together during this difficult time, Tom has decided to make a big change of his own. To start the New Year, he will be having a bold new haircut to raise funds for the PPBF’s compassionate housing. But, which style will make the cut?
You can choose from the moustache, the mohawk or the mullet. Click here to visit the PPBF’s Facebook page and cast your vote by responding to the pinned post with your chosen emoji. You can also cast your vote by donating here and leaving a message on the Donor Wall with your favourite style.
Every donation, of any amount, will help us to keep our compassionate housing running for local families with premature babies or critically ill children. Both Aggie’s Burrow and Isaac’s Pad are cosy, conveniently located and private, giving families a peace of mind while they are miles from home.
“We feel so lucky to have been able to stay at the flat during an incredibly unlucky period of our lives. Caring for Romy while she battles childhood cancer has been intense. The flat has enabled us to stay together as we can walk to the hospital and, when Romy has been out of hospital, she has been able to stay with us at the flat. We want to raise as much money as possible for this amazing resource.” – Tom and Helen McGahy.
You can continue donating and voting right up until 31st December 2022. We will then announce the winning cut and share Tom’s ‘brave the shave’ date in early January. Keep an eye on the PPBF’s Facebook page for more.
